Sports, students and youth organizations conference

Iraq / Baghdad October 31, 2007
The Iraqi Commission for Civil Society Enterprises in cooperation with Iraqi Youth Employment and Development Net held a conference for professional sports councils, students and young people in collaboration with the Youth Sports rostrum free and civil society organizations attended the conference and heads of the competent sports clubs and community sports personalities student and youth in Iraq to study the reality of these sectors and develop joint programs for the development and advancement, and the statement of the importance of their participation in next national elections .. The development of joint programs for the development of youth and sports reality at homeland on Sunday, October 31, 2006 on the union hall accountants and auditors/Baghdad and the Conference discussed its agenda and listened to the opinions of specialists and decided to continue the dialogue in subsequent meetings and the formation of the sports organizations, students and youth, follow-up and coordinate the work themselves to reach a common vision and a better future.

General Conference for Iraqi youth and students organizations

The Iraqi Commission for Civil Society Enterprises in cooperation with Iraqi Youth Employment and Development Net held the General Conference for Iraqi youth and students organizations as a part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, in the presence of Iraqi civil society organizations , leaders of youth and community personalities .The conference participants discussed the agenda, and listened to the views of professionals and discussed proposals on how to resolve the problems and obstacles facing the youth employment.
The following points were discussed:

1-The history of the Global YES Campaign and YES Iraq Network goals and accomplishments.
2- Unemployment and weakness of work chances and employment.
3- Nonexistence of training technical rehabilitation for youth that leads to the weakness of the skills level.
4- Nonexistence of funding opportunities and grants to support youth projects.
5- The effect of the unemployment and poverty in circulating of crime and drugs.
6-Weakness of the government performance and the strategy of developing the youth.
7- The impact of occupation, terrorism and violence on the weak performance of youth.

Results and recommendations

1- Activate the role of youth and their participation in the net in order to fight unemployment, decrease poverty and provide work and investment opportunities.
2- Working as a part of the Global YES Campaign and cooperating with it to benefit from its experience and practice.
3- Establishing data base and information and connection net concerned with youth and interested assemblies.
4- Providing work and training opportunities and employing youth.
5- Executing small productive projects for participated youth.
6- Developing and involving the youth society in the political and democratic process.
